Basketball @ Oxford: A Brief History
Oxford University Basketball Club is one of the most successful sports teams in the university and has members from nations all over the globe. Our club trains at Iffley Road Sports Centre, home of the famous Roger Bannister track. Although Roger Bannister himself didn't train with us New York Knicks' Bill Bradley (1965-67), and former US President Bill Clinton (1968) have both represented the university.
OUBbC has four teams competing in the British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) championships:
Mens Blues (Premier League South),
Womens Blues (Premier League South),
Mens Twos (Midlands Conference 3B),
Womens Twos (Midlands Conference 2B).
The teams also compete in the annual Varsity Match against Cambridge in Hilary (second) term.
During Michaelmas (first) and Hilary Terms the club runs a college league, and in Trinity (third) term a Cuppers (inter-collegiate) competition is held. These involve around 300 students of varying nationalities.
The website has information about the teams, fixtures, results, college leagues and photo, but if you cannot find what you're after please email us.
